Annette Bening's BiographyAnnette Francine Bening was born on May 29, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas. The 5'8 1/2" actress is the youngest of four children. When she was still a young girl her family moved to California where she grew up.
She attended and then graduated from San Francisco State University. She then began an acting career at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Ultimately she moved to New York where she began acting on the state. She won a role in the Broadway play Coastal Disturbances.
She first became recognized as an up and coming actress in the film Valmont in 1989 by Milos Forman even though it was not a box office success. However, the next year she appeared in The Grifters as a con artist. She won an Academy award nomination for her acting in that movie.
Besides winning an Academy award nomination for Grifters she was awarded the part of Virginia Hill in Bugsy in 1991. Although the movie was not a critical or box office success, it did result in the relationship between Annette and Warren Beatty, who co-starred in the film. Ultimately the couple married in 1992 and are still married as of 2008. They have four children.
There were widespreqad rumors that Annette broke up the romance between Warren Beatty and Madonna. As a result supposedly Madonna wrote a song that referenced Annette stealing Warren's affections from her.
Although the couple worked together again in the 1994 film Love Affair, it flopped badly. Annette went on to provide a notable performance as Queen Elizabeth in the highly-regarded 1995 production of Richard III.
She was also magnificent as Carolyn in American Beauty in 1999 which won her an Academy award nomination. She also won nods for her work in Being Julia in 2004.
