Abigail Kathleen Breslin (born April 14, 1996) is an Academy-Award nominated American child actress.
The fourth youngest actress ever to be nominated for a competitive Academy Award, Breslin is best known for portraying Olive Hoover in the film Little Miss Sunshine, Nim Rusoe in Nim's Island, and the title character in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and The Ultimate Gift as well as for several supporting roles in other films.
The breakout role for this petite actress born in New York, New York, was as Little Miss Sunshine, the iconic film about a young girl and her family determined to get her to a beauty pageant against all odds. Even death.
Her portrayal as Olive in Little Miss Sunshine netted her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Both on and offscreen she is known for her waist length long brown hair which is beautiful.
In The Ultimate Gift she plays a young girl dying with cancer who has lost all her hair and wears a series of wigs and hats as a result of her character's disease related hair loss.
In the 2009 film My Sisters Keeper she plays a controversial role of the planned younger sister of an older sister dying from cancer. She sues her parents as a result of being conceived to be a donor for her older sibling. The film co-stars Cameron Diaz and is due to be released in late June of 2009.
